Requirements

Go on a few rides.
Tell an organizer that you want to lead rides. They can add you as an ride leader on Meetup.
Post an event.
You have to get people together. (Don't post events that are just ads for something you want to go to.)
Even if you are a beginner you can still lead a ride if you can navigate the trails. Trailforks is good for that.

Feel free to copy past events. Make sure you set yourself as the event organizer, since the event organizer is copied as well.
Good communication is key. Let event goers know what's going on. If you have to cancel the event, leave a comment as to why.
Don’t schedule a multi-day trip on top of another one. We don’t have enough people signing up for them to have more than one at the same time.
No Shows - People who sign up and don’t cancel and late drop out are a problem. We keep track of no shows in Meetup. If someone has 3+ no shows, feel free to move them to the waitlist or assume they’re not coming.
Keep phone numbers, email address and personal health info in private messages. The discussion and event pages are open enough that it should be assumed that anyone can see it.
Rides that have a regular schedule tend to get more people on them.
Posting rides one to two weeks ahead tend to get more people.
